I’m Foodie Jamie, and I love food.
Not just eating it (though let’s be serious; that IS the best part); I love everything about food. I love preparing it, I love talking about it, I love how it defines culture, and I love learning about it. I love seeing and sharing in other people’s passion for food. I love perusing the online menu of a restaurant I’m about to visit and planning what I’m going to order. I love talking to the chefs and asking them to tell me about their experiences in creating food. I love learning about family recipes and the significance and memories attached to them.
I also love travel and to me, travel and food go hand-in-hand. They’re inextricably linked because travel feeds our souls while food feeds our stomachs, and we take them in simultaneously. I can’t imagine traveling to a new place and not trying out the local fare. There’s a reason that cities and even some countries are known by a signature dish:
- Buffalo – Wings
- London – Curry
- Philadelphia – Philly Cheese Steaks
- Chicago – Pizza (Chicago Style)
- New York City – Pizza (New York Style)
These are just a few off the top of my head, but you get the picture.
The biggest moments of my life, the most significant conversations I’ve had, have all been over a meal and I bet if you think about it, so have yours. Eating is in the foundation of our litmus test for finding a life partner (the Dinner Date), and we all have grandmas, moms, nonnas, abuelas, etc. that are known for expressing their love with food. Food brings people together, and so does travel. I hope what you read here conveys that credo because it’s what I live by every day. I’m hungry, in every sense of the word, and constantly feeding that hunger in order to live my best (and most delicious) life!
I hope at the very least, you get a laugh out of what you read here and at most, I hope you get inspired to fall in love with food and seeing the world through its lens, the way I have. I’ll share my dining out experiences (complete with pictures of the delicious fare) and share my own cooking with you (make sure you follow me on Instagram!). That’s where this will get really fun; I rarely know exact measurements. I add ingredients and cook based on what I feel and what I know tastes good. My dad is an amazing cook and he cooks this way. My love for cooking and associating it with love and connecting with people was born on the kitchen table chair I used to pull up to the counter where he was cooking, so I could watch (and let’s be honest – steal food) so whatever triumphs I have are probably his; any failures or science projects gone awry are mine.
Thanks for stopping by and humoring my passion.
Let’s eat!
